Commercial shipping season on the great lakes begins

Three vessels belonging to Algoma Central Coorporation, that have been winter docking at the Midcontinent Terminal, are ready to set sail. The crews of Algoma Equinox, Algoma Discovery and G3 Marquis, have been working hard to get the ships ready.

In the meantime American icebreakers USCG Morro Bay and  USCG Alder have been clearing the path in the ice in a week long ice braking operation in the Port of Thunder Bay.

The first ship of the season -  American Century, has passed through Soo Locks this Sunday morning with a cheering crowd attending the opening of the shipping season.
