Liebherr LR11350 Crane Unloading Project September 2024

In September 2024, our team successfully completed the offloading of a Liebherr LR11350 crane, weighing 1,169,340 kg, with the heaviest individual part weighing in at 70,500kg. The equipment arrived on the Spliethoff vessel Fortunagracht at our dock in Thunder Bay, Ontario, from Amsterdam in 77 individual components, requiring careful coordination to manage the complex logistics of oversized cargo.

The operation took place over two days, from vessel arrival to departure, supported by a dedicated 200 m x 115 m laydown area prepared for efficient unloading and secure staging.

For heavy lifts, MTC utilized specialized lifting equipment, including a 400-ton crane and a 230-ton crane, ensuring precise and safe handling of all major parts. This project reinforced our capability to manage large-scale equipment arrivals and highlighted our commitment to delivering reliable, timely, and expert heavy-lifting solutions for our clients.
