Komatsu PC5500 Excavator Offloading Project April 2024
In April 2024, our team successfully managed the first project cargo offloading of a Komatsu PC5500 Excavator with a total weight of 585,000 kg with the heaviest piece weighing in at 64,220kg. The machine arrived at our dock by the Spliethoff vessel Coe Luisa in 33 pieces, requiring detailed planning and precise handling due to structural restrictions on the marine dock.
The operation took place over three days, from April 18 to April 20, 2024, ensuring a safe and timely unloading. A dedicated 200 m x 115 m laydown area was utilized, optimized for accessibility and secure staging of all components.
For heavy lifts, MTC deployed specialized lifting equipment, including a 400-ton crane and a 230-ton crane, to ensure efficient handling and movement of major components. This project showcased our expertise in managing oversized equipment logistics, precision lifting operations, and strategic space utilization for large-scale machinery.
